Our mission is to be sure that each year new enshrinees are the finest athletes Lakewood High has ever produced. Promoting the sport of football and the qualities of leadership and sportsmanship that are instilled in student athletes is part of the fulfillment of our hall of fame as well.
The Lakewood Football Hall of Fame serves as a means for inspiring young players to excellence on and off the field as they are enshrined for their achievements each and every year. The select few that represent their class are the ideal athletes, which further strengthen the character building qualities of the program.
We honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the positive growth of our football program and the sport of football itself.
SELECTION PROCESS
Before casting your vote, there are certain criteria that a player must meet in order to qualify for Lakewood's elite group. They are the following:
1. An athlete must have been a starter and played at least one year of varsity football, whether it be past, present or future.
2. Honors must include at least two of the following: All-League, All-City, or All-CIF selections respectively.
3. First & Second Team All-League a/o CIF selections, Dream Team selections, Ironman players, and Division One College prospects are a definite plus!
4. Classroom performance is of equal importance. In addition to outstanding achievements on the field, a player must also maintain a respectable GPA. A 2.0 or higher is required for consideration. Please note: The GPA requirement only applies to current players who are active on the varsity roster during our selection process.
5. A player from any class may be nominated at any time. However, if a currently active player is nominated, he must be a senior class athlete of the varsity roster and must meet all of the criteria to eligible for enshrinement during the time of selection. Qualified under classmen may be nominated for future enshrinement as well.
We welcome nominations year around for players who have achieved excellence. Upon casting your vote, please be sure to include a list of all necessary credentials and a mugshot or action shot of the player if possible. This image file must be in jpeg format and be attached to your email nomination. Each candidate will be carefully reviewed by our Board of Selectors at our annual meeting in November. A player must receive 80 percent approval by the Board before he can be elected. If elected, he will be inducted into the hall of fame gallery in December before the CIF PAC-5 Division Championship game. Nominations for the class of '09 must be submitted no later than December 1, 2010.
Thank you all for your participation, and good luck to all of our nominees.
