In a season full of lopsided wins, the Lancers of 1966 put Lakewood on the map as one of the league's best football club's in CIF competition. The Lancers bruised their way to the championship in stellar fashion as they upset the defending Moore League champions-the Wilson Bruins.

The pride and poise of Big Red remained sharp throughout the 1968 campaign with USC and NFL bound senior quarterback Mike Rae leading the Lancers to another Moore League crown and an appearance in the CIF 4-A quarterfinals where Lakewood faced off with the Anaheim Conquerers.

The intensity of Lakewood's winning tradition was evident on the faces of the 1969 club after retaining the league crown for a second consecutive season with a hard fought win over Wilson 14-8. This win gave the Lancers a tremendous amount of momentum heading into the following season.
